Chapter - 2876

Zeke gave Quinlan a punch and chided, "Disrespectful brat! How dare you call your master a monster?"

When they reached the top of a hill, they were surprised to find a stone tablet erected there.

"What's this?' Quinlan stopped in front of the tablet and started to examine it.

Zeke joined him and saw there were many strange words inscribed on the tablet. He had no idea what language that was written in.

Zeke was multilingual, but the wordings on the tablet were alien to him and not in any language he knew.

"Quinlan, you are knowledgeable. Can you recognize these words?" he asked.

"Who told you these are words? They could be special symbols with certain significance!" Quinlan refuted.

"What do you mean?" Zeke was puzzled.

"It could be something like the symbols on a talisman," Quinlan explained.

"Oh? You mean this tablet might be here to protect against or suppress certain evil elements?" Zeke asked.

Quinlan nodded and uttered, "Yup!"

"Then what is it suppressing?" Zeke pressed on.

"I have no idea," said Quinlan, shaking his head.

Lacey chipped in and added, “Zeke, I think this could be a tombstone."

Tombstone?

Zeke and Quinlan turned to Lacey and asked in unison, "Why do you think it is a tombstone? If so, then where's the grave?"

"The hill that we're on could be the grave," Lacey shared.

Both Zeke and Quinlan were taken aback by Lacey's bold speculation.

Somehow, they had a feeling she was right.

Indeed, that tablet strongly resembled a tombstone and so, those hills could really be graves.

Although those hills were dwarfs compared to mountains, they were too huge to be associated with a grave.

What could possibly be buried in such gigantic graves?

While Zeke and Quinlan were still dumbfounded, a dark, shadowy silhouette flew out from the tablet and headed straight for Quinlan.

Instinctively, Quinlan threw out a punch and destroyed that silhouette.

It disintegrated into black smoke and instantly engulfed Quinlan.

Quinlan was caught off-guard, and the black smoke entered his body.

"F*ck! Death aura! It's death aura! What was that d*mn thing? It was formed by death aura!" Quinlan was hopping mad.

"Quick! Sit down and meditate! You have to force the death aura out of your body!" Zeke ordered.

Quinlan sat down grumpily and started circulating his energy to expel the death aura.

"Formed by death aura? Could it be a ghost?" Zeke speculated out loud.

"It's a death spirit!" Ossa Dei, who had been dormant for a long time, suddenly spoke up.

"What are death spirits?" Zeke asked, curious.

Ossa Dei recalled, "I don't remember many details, but I know that though a couple of such death spirits can't cause much harm, they can easily destroy anyone if they appear en masse, no matter how powerful the person is. I also vaguely remember that killing death spirits is taboo to humans, so people would try their best not to kill it."

"Why?" Zeke couldn't help but ask.

“I don't know. My memories of death spirits are vague. I do remember one thing, though. Death spirits are confined underground and can only get out from certain tunnels. Maybe there's a death spirit tunnel somewhere around here."

Zeke nodded and said, "If that's the case, then let's try to stay away from these death spirits."

It took Quinlan about five to six minutes to expel the death aura from his body.

Before he could take a breather, another two death spirits emerged from the stone tablet.

The sight of them made Quinlan's blood boil.

"D*mn you! You must be responsible for the intense death aura around here. All thanks to you, I had to waste so much energy trying to protect myself against the death aura. I'm going to kill you!" he shouted.

With that, he threw out two punches and destroyed the two death spirits.

It happened in a blink of an eye and Zeke could not stop him in time.

The death spirits disintegrated into a thick blanket of death aura and flew toward Quinlan.
