Chapter - 2878

Since the blood of an ancient emperor coursed through Lacey's veins, granting her dominance over the death spirits, none of them dared to come close to her.

Within a short span of time, Quinlan successfully purged the death aura from his body.

Zeke quickly instructed, "Quinlan, take Lacey and leave. I'll hold off these death spirits. Hopefully, they'll stop chasing you down after you're far away."

"Okay!"

Wasting no time, Quinlan grabbed Lacey's hand and dashed away.

The death spirits immediately gave chase to them, only to be intercepted by Zeke.

Half an hour passed. After confirming that Quinlan was far away, Zeke gave up blocking the death spirits and began chasing after Quinlan.

However, the death spirits continued pursuing Zeke stubbornly.

During the pursuit, he noticed a pattern.

When he ran toward the east, west, or north, the death spirits closed in with greater speed.

However, when he ran toward the south, the death spirits would slow down. Some would even give up on chasing after him.

Zeke realized that there might be something in the south capable of subduing the death spirits.

Or perhaps, the purpose of the death spirits was to drive people toward the south.

The divine weapon likely awaited them in that direction.

Coincidentally, Quinlan and Lacey were escaping toward the south.

Sprinting at his fastest speed, Zeke soon left the death spirits behind him in the dust.

As he crossed a few more "tombstones," he noticed some marks etched upon them, indicating that a fierce battle had broken out there.

Undoubtedly, Theos and the rest must have encountered the death spirits and left behind those marks of battle. The looks of it also hinted that they provoked quite a few death spirits.

Zeke sped up and charged faster ahead.

He must not let Theos reach the destination first and seize the divine weapon.

After crossing the last tombstones, a vast wasteland stretched out before him.

It was overflowing with an intense death aura. Anyone weaker would definitely be corroded to death.

Zeke paused for a moment, considering his options. Finally, he left a message there. Intense death aura ahead. Wait here. From Zeke.

He hoped to warn Sole Wolf and the others from heading forward. Instead, they should wait for him there, where they would be safe from the corrosive effects of the death aura.

After leaving behind the warning, Zeke leapt down.

As soon as his feet touched the ground, he heard Lacey's voice. "Zeke, we're here."

Zeke swiftly turned his head and discovered Lacey and Quinlan seeking refuge beneath a massive boulder.

Although Lacey appeared unscathed, Quinlan's face was dark and his body overflowing with death aura. The death aura was eating away at him to the point where he could not even move.

Zeke frowned. "Quinlan, what happened to you?"

Struggling to speak, Quinlan replied, "F*ck... We were ambushed by the death spirits just now, and I absorbed four of their death auras... I think I'm going to die..."

Zeke said, "This is impossible! You should have been able to handle four death spirits with ease..."

Quinlan explained, "The four death spirits we encountered just now aren't the weak ones we faced before. They were very strong. I reckon that they've surpassed the Celestial Class, maybe even more powerful than that. Death spirits of the Celestial Class are tough opponents. Although I can easily defeat them, I dare not kill them. If I were to kill four Celestial Class death spirits and attract another eight of their kind, I'll die. I had no choice but to fight with them endlessly. In the end, I exhausted all of my strength. One of the death spirits ended up selfdetonating, and all its death aura seeped into my body. I immediately felt so dizzy and weak in my limbs that I couldn't fight anymore. Fortunately, the other three death spirits suddenly ran toward the south for some reason and ignored me. That's how I managed to survive."

Zeke took a deep breath.

Celestial Class death spirits!

Such powerful death spirits were much more difficult to deal with than Celestial Class warriors as one could not kill the death spirits directly. All one could do was engage in battle with them endlessly while avoiding their death aura.
