Chapter - 2923

Once the water man was done speaking, he released a stream of water in Zeke's direction.

Zeke was slightly taken aback. "Master, you used to be my mentor, but to me, you were like a father who loved me as a son. Have you forgotten?"

Cut the crap.

"Let me look into you, and we'll see," the water man replied.

Despite feeling skeptical, Zeke said nothing more and let the water feel his pulse.

A while later, the water man nodded. "Your abilities did come from me, so you were indeed my mentee."

Zeke was bewildered.

What is this? It hasn't been that long since we last saw each other. How could he have forgotten me? Has he gone senile? Besides, isn't he supposed to be watching over the Dragon's Vein at the Secret Realm of Mount Kush? What is he doing here and showing up looking like this?

With that in mind, he voiced his inner thoughts. "Master, aren't you supposed to be at Mount Kush guarding the Dragon's Vein? What are you doing here?"

"The Dragon's Vein's at the Secret Realm of Mount Kush?" Pietro pondered briefly. "I didn't think there'd be a Dragon's Vein there too."

Huh?

Zeke grew increasingly puzzled.

Pietro took the initiative to explain, "I'll be honest with you. I'm not actually Pietro himself. I'm merely a spiritual sense of his. In fact, this mentor you speak of is also a spiritual sense. That's why I had no idea you were his disciple."

What?

Zeke couldn't help but gasp at that.

This guy's just a spiritual sense? And so is my own mentor? How could a spiritual sense be this strong? Even a Sun and Moon Class warrior is no match for him.

Tiger Lord and the Sun and Moon Class warriors dared not even approach the river, lest they got sucked into it.

Then, just how powerful could Pietro actually be?

Zeke couldn't imagine it.

"Master Pietro-"

"Don't act like we're close," the water man cut him off with a wave. "Your so-called master is a different spiritual sense, not me. I don't have such a stupid apprentice like you.”

If he were to speak like this previously, Zeke would certainly have been angered.

After all, the latter was Great Marshal the backbone of Eurasia and one of the top warriors in the world.

It would be an honor to serve as Great Marshal's slave, never mind getting accepted as an apprentice of his.

Yet, at this very moment, Zeke realized how much larger the world was after encountering a warrior far more powerful than himself.

Hence, it wasn't unreasonable for the water man to refer to Zeke as a fool.

Exasperated, the latter could only change the subject. "What are you doing here, if I may ask?"

The water man sighed deeply. "My role here is to keep a rein on the prisoners beneath these waters. This has been going on for thousands of years."

He continued, "But you lot came over with an insurmountable number of death spirits, whose death aura infiltrated my spiritual sense, created a hole in my defense, and caused the prisoners to escape. You've made a grave mistake.”

Zeke was slightly remorseful. "May I ask what sort of person this prisoner is? Why is he being held captive?"

"He's not a person. He's a warrior from Gods!"

"From Gods?" Zeke was astounded. "I didn't think any of them would still be alive."

Theos was a descendant of Gods.

However, he was only an illusory spiritual sense and not a physical entity.

Even so, a mere illusory spiritual sense like Theos already possessed such terrifying power.

Then, a living God would surely be capable of destroying so much more.

"Of course, they do," the water man responded. "There's quite a lot of them, in fact. It's just that my people have been keeping them under control so they can't come out and wreak havoc. That's why you have yet to meet any of them. Their powers have diminished greatly thanks to my people's efforts, but once they escape, it's going to be chaos everywhere!"
