Chapter - 3048

The other party was cloaked in a stealth suit, rendering their features indiscernible. Nevertheless, judging from their attire, they appeared to be a member of the Nightingale Squad.

Sure enough, the other party knelt down before Zeke. "Eighteen from Nightingale Squad, at your service, Boss."

Hmm?

Hearing that familiar voice, Killer Wolf couldn't help furrowing his brows and fixing his gaze intently on Eighteen.

This voice sounds like my father's. His eyes look like my father's, too.

However, his face was concealed by a black shroud, rendering it impossible to discern his features.

Almost instinctively, Killer Wolf said, "Remove your veil. Let me see your face."

Eighteen glanced at Killer Wolf, seemingly about to speak but soon found himself frozen in place, his expression a complex mix of emotions.

Killer Wolf was almost certain that the man before him was his father.

Otherwise, there was no way he would have had such a strong reaction.

Killer Wolf approached the person step by step. "Remove your veil. Let me see you."

Eighteen hastily warned, "Stop right there. Don't blame me for not showing you any mercy if you take one more step. Without command from my boss, I cannot remove my veil."

Killer Wolf gazed at Zeke pleadingly.

Zeke gave a slight nod. "Take it off."

Only then did Eighteen carefully remove his veil.

The moment the man's face was revealed, Killer Wolf was promptly moved to tears.

It was, indeed, his father.

Killer Wolf and Eighteen locked eyes, silently gazing at each other without exchanging any words or intimate gestures. They were soldiers, not accustomed to expressing emotions openly. Nonetheless, a single glance was sufficient; the two understood each other perfectly.

After a prolonged silence, Eighteen finally spoke, "Son, I owe you an apology. I had my own difficulties back then... I had no choice..."

Killer Wolf replied, “Dad, you don't need to explain. I understand you. Those who join the Nightingale Squad often do so out of necessity."

"All right. I don't have much time now. I must report the situation to Boss right away,” said Eighteen.

Killer Wolf inclined his head. "Okay."

Eighteen turned to face Zeke again. "Boss, we may have discovered the new Great Marshal's subordinate's stronghold."

Zeke quickly said, “Explain the situation in detail."

Eighteen said seriously, "We've noticed that after the new Great Marshal took over your position, none of the subordinates under his command have been replaced, but all the chefs in the logistics department have been replaced. We investigated these chefs and were surprised to find that they didn't have any culinary certifications at all. They had never even learned how to cook. By the way, these chefs all come from the same village. We visited this village for an investigation and uncovered a much bigger secret. The villagers, each and every one of them, remain indoors during the day and only venture out at night. What's even stranger is that their movements are rigid, and their expressions are vacant, almost as if they were akin to walking corpses. Perhaps the most perplexing detail is that every single villager there possesses two shadows, without exception."

Remain indoors during the day and only venture out at night? Akin to walking corpses and possess two shadows?

Upon considering these keywords, Zeke immediately connected the dots and associated the situation with the Shadowbone sect.

Are all the villagers under the control of the Shadowbone sect?

The Shadowbone sect was affiliated with Netherworld, and its members were akin to shadows. They had the ability to attach themselves to human shadows and exert control over their minds.

If the new Great Marshal employed members of the Shadowbone sect as his chefs, there's a considerable likelihood that he might have connections to Netherworld, too. This possibility seems quite plausible.

If Eurasia were truly controlled by the Netherworld, it would undoubtedly bring about a catastrophic disaster.

We absolutely cannot let them succeed.

Zeke immediately issued an order, "Eighteen, mark the location of that village. I will personally go and annihilate them."

Eighteen quickly said, "Boss, let me lead the way for you."

Zeke replied, "No need. You and Killer Wolf have been apart for a long time. Today is a rare chance for the two of you to reunite, so you should take this time to catch up on old times."

Killer Wolf uttered, "Zeke, don't worry. After all, we'll have plenty of time to get together in the future. This time, let me go with you to annihilate the enemy."

Zeke glanced at Killer Wolf and Eighteen, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. "This is an order! Plus, by staying behind, you two can protect Dawnie and Nancy, too."
