Chapter - 3142

Northern Wolf lowered his voice and inquired, "Lord Maximus, is there something you require of me?"

"Northern Wolf, have you received word that the Prime Minister's body now resides in the Cygnus Room?" Maximus asked, seeking information.

"Indeed, we've taken possession of the Prime Minister's remains, personally arranged for delivery by the Great Marshal himself."

Hearing this, Maximus pressed further, "Could you enlighten me, Northern Wolf, on why the Great Marshal entrusted Cygnus Room with this responsibility?"

Northern Wolf explained, "The Great Marshal wishes for us to privately pay our respects to the Prime Minister. He is to be honored with a state funeral, draped in the national flag."

Huh?

Maximus furrowed his brow, realizing that the Great Marshal's intent to grant the Prime Minister a state funeral hinted at a deeper understanding. It suggested that the Great Marshal might have unraveled the Prime Minister's true identity as Black Reaper, the one responsible for numerous calamities within the country.

With caution, Northern Wolf inquired, "Lord Maximus, may I ask why you are suddenly interested in the Prime Minister?"

Maximus shared, "Northern Wolf, I have a request for you."

"What is it?"

"I need you to assist me in retrieving the Prime Minister's body."

"That's impossible!" Northern Wolf firmly declined, "Lord Maximus, you should reconsider. I lack the means to carry out such a task. I strongly advise against pursuing this course of action. The Prime Minister's remains are a matter of utmost importance even to the Great Marshal. Anyone who seeks to harm the Prime Minister is inviting dire consequences."

Nevertheless, Maximus insisted, "Northern Wolf, please think of a solution. I believe you can find a way."

Northern Wolf maintained his resolve, stating, "Lord Maximus, I recommend seeking someone more capable. I'm afraid I cannot be of assistance. Let's end this conversation; I have other matters to attend to."

Preparing to end the call, Northern Wolf was interrupted by Maximus urgently saying, "Wait, Northern Wolf. There's something I need to show you. After you've seen it, decide whether you'll assist me."

"What is it?" "Just a moment."

A moment of silence passed, and suddenly, a conversation from the other end of the phone played. It was the chat records of past "transactions" between Maximus and Northern Wolf.

Hearing this, Northern Wolf grew agitated, asking, "Lord Maximus, why have you kept these chat records?"

Maximus offered a faint smile. "No particular reason, just thought it would be nostalgic to

revisit them during my free time.”

"Lord Maximus, I strongly advise you to delete these audio records immediately,” Northern Wolf cautioned.

"Certainly. However, I put considerable effort into preserving this information. Now, you're asking me to discard it. Isn't that rather unreasonable? Perhaps you could do me a small favor."

Suppressing his anger, Northern Wolf asked, "What do you have in mind?”

Maximus proposed, "Promise me the conditions I mentioned earlier, and help me retrieve the Prime Minister's body."

"You..." Northern Wolf couldn't hide his frustration, "Lord Maximus, it's not a matter of willingness, but capability. Even with extraordinary abilities, stealing the Prime Minister's body from under the watchful eyes of Cygnus Room is nearly impossible. It's their top priority now, and targeting it would be inviting death. You should change your terms."

In all honesty, Maximus placed his trust in Northern Wolf's assessment. The odds of successfully pilfering the Prime Minister's remains from the heavily guarded Cygnus Room were less than fifty percent. It was an undeniably audacious request to make of Northern Wolf.

However, Maximus found himself pondering if he had any viable alternatives at this juncture. If he refrained from seizing the Prime Minister's body and calling upon the Black Reaper to rescue his son, Fergus, it would spell the end of the Whittaker family's lineage.

Thus, despite the mere fifty percent chance of success, Maximus was prepared to devote his all to this endeavor.

Maximus implored, “Northern Wolf, let me be frank with you. This is about the life and death of my son, and the future of the Whittaker family. If you don't aid me, my family's lineage will cease to exist. You must assist me this time, or I will expose both of us to Cygnus Room and the Great Marshal."

Darn it!

Northern Wolf exploded in anger and profanity, but he realized that scolding Maximus wouldn't change the situation. The pressing issue was finding a solution, and compromise with Maximus seemed the only way forward.

Northern Wolf was well aware of Maximus' temperament. Once the latter resolved to pursue a course of action, not even the strength of ten bulls could deter him from his chosen path.

With a sigh, Northern Wolf relented, "Very well, Lord Maximus, you've backed me into a corner. I will attempt it, but it's a perilous endeavor. If I fail and am discovered, the consequences will extend to the Whittaker family. Are you sure you're willing to take this risk?" >

Maximus affirmed, "With my Whittaker family on the brink of extinction, I have no other choice."

Northern Wolf conceded, "All right, I'll give it a try. However, even if I succeed in retrieving the Prime Minister's body, I won't be able to remain in Cygnus Room. Their capabilities will likely trace it back to me. When the time comes, you'll need to use all your resources to help me seek refuge abroad."

"No problem," said Maximus.

With that, Northern Wolf concluded, "Wait for my message; I will formulate a plan as soon as possible."
