Matthew's heart raced as he remembered the incident involving Patrick and the damage it had caused to his family's reputation. He knew that Michaela had worked hard to restore their reputation and couldn't bear the thought of causing her any more harm by being greedy for his shares. He realized that he needed to flee the country as soon as possible in order to avoid being held responsible for his actions. So, he stood up and told Michaela with a sincere expression, "Please don't worry, Miss Joules. I will go to the police tonight and turn myself in. It's my responsibility and I won't try to escape." As he spoke, he turned and quickly ran out of the room, taking advantage of the fact that Michaela was not paying attention. Matthew's driver was waiting outside, and his private plane was ready at the airport. If he could just make it out of the auditorium and into the car, he would be able to reach the airport in half an hour. From there, he could board the plane and leave the United States, keeping most of his assets and preserving his personal freedom. If he failed to get on the plane, however, he would lose both his assets and his freedom. As he frantically tried to escape, Michaela was slow to react. Just as Matthew thought he was going to make it, he felt his body suddenly go rigid and he was strangled by someone's grip on his neck. He turned to see that it was Charlie who had grabbed his collar. Charlie smiled at Matthew and asked, "Mr. Peterson, where are you running off to in such a hurry?" Matthew forced himself to remain calm and replied, "Mr. Wade, I already told Miss Joules that I am going to the police to turn myself in..." Charlie nodded and said with a smile, "It's good that you are willing to take responsibility. But there's no need for you to go there in person. When it comes to crimes committed by people in the elite class of society, it's usually not the police who handle it. It's the FBI. Why not let Miss Joules contact the FBI and have them come here to pick you up?"

At this, Matthew was filled with fear. He struggled to break free from Charlie's grip, but the man's hand remained firm. At this point, Michaela called Flint Yeager over and instructed him, "Master Yeager, contact the head of the FBI and have them send the nearest agent here." It's your own actions that have led to your downfall." Matthew pleaded, "Miss Joules, if you let me go, I'll transfer all my shares to the Joules family without any conditions!" Michaela gave a bland smile and said, "Did you forget what I said before? Your shares will be sold at a low price in an auction to compensate for the company's losses. As for whether there will be any surplus and how much will be left, you'll have to wait and see in prison." As she spoke, Flint Yeager returned from outside. He stood in front of Michaela and said respectfully, "Miss, the head of the FBI has been notified. They are taking this very seriously and have dispatched several senior agents from the FBI base in Providence. They are on a helicopter and will be here in ten minutes."
