Chapter - 5062

The two strong men outside the door were shocked to see their old master come out in person. They had never seen a guest worthy of being greeted by the old man himself. As he approached Maria, he was trembling with excitement and walked as quickly as he could, causing the two people supporting him to become flustered.

Maria stood there with a smile on her face until the old man reached her. He stood in front of her, panting and excited, and asked, "Miss, it's really you! How did you get here?"

Maria smiled faintly and replied, "I came to join you for a while, if that's convenient for you."

"Convenient, totally convenient!" The old man eagerly nodded. Then he asked, "Miss, are you by yourself? Did Old David Blake not come with you?"

"No," Maria shook her head slightly and said, "He will arrive in China in a few days." She looked around and added, "It's better to go inside and talk. There are some things I need your help with."

The old man eagerly made an invitation gesture and respectfully said, "Please, Miss!"

Maria nodded and walked towards the grand gates. Once inside, she saw that the courtyard was incredibly large, with green stones neatly paving the ground covering at least a few thousand square feet.

The old man led Maria to his study and ordered everyone to leave the study and stay at least 50 meters away. All the family members and servants retreated to the backyard.

In the study, the old man respectfully invited Maria to sit down before asking, "Miss, where are you coming from? Why didn't you notify me in advance so I could arrange for someone to pick you up?"

Maria replied lightly, "I've had quite a tumultuous journey, starting in Northern Europe. I took a boat to Murmansk in Russia, then traveled overland by car and train to Moscow. From Moscow, I took a plane to Vietnam and then a land route from Vietnam into China. Finally, I took a plane from the southwest to come here."

The old man was surprised and asked, "Miss, you used such a circuitous route to come to China. Did you encounter any trouble?"

"Yes," Maria replied candidly. "Something went terribly wrong in Northern Europe and I almost lost my life."

The old man asked in shock, "Why would that happen?"

Maria laughed bitterly and said, "One of Blake's men somehow got in touch with the Warriors Den and exposed my whereabouts. They sent people to Northern Europe overnight to track us down and kill everyone except for me and Blake."

The old man said with a face full of horror, "The Warriors Den actually found you..."

"Yes," Maria sighed. "I've been very low profile, but I didn't expect something to go wrong internally. Blake's men didn't know my identity originally, but the Warriors Den had been using special channels to track me down. In order to find me, they also offered a huge reward. I guess it was one of Blake's men who happened to get this information and sold me out, but this is just my speculation. After all, those men of Blake's are dead and I don't know exactly which one of them betrayed me."
