The Amazing Son in Law/

Chapter - 5840

Chapter - 5840

The Rothschild father and son, Howard and Steve, were filled with contentment as they made their way to the palace, engaged in animated conversation.

The more Howard looked at Steve, the greater his admiration grew. He couldn't help but feel grateful for having such a dutiful and sensible son. And Steve, basking in his father's approval, was naturally in high spirits, eagerly anticipating their move to China and the opportunity to strengthen their bond with Charlie.

Steve believed that going to China would bring him benefits without any drawbacks. Even if he couldn't secure Charlie's support in inheriting the family fortune, he had a good chance of obtaining some favors from him through flattery. It was a far better prospect than staying in the United States, where he would be constantly suspected, guarded against, and disliked by his grandfather.

And so, with their individual thoughts, the father-son relationship returned to the harmonious and cordial state of Steve's childhood.

Upon their arrival at the palace, the royal guards were already lined up on either side of the road within the palace grounds. Knowing how important appearances were to Howard, Helena had arranged the grandest reception on behalf of the Nordic royal family.

In the square in front of the main palace, Helena stood beside the old queen. As Howard and Steve stepped out of the car, they approached the two women with a respectful hand-kissing gesture.

Howard looked at Helena with gratitude and expressed, "Your Majesty, we are deeply honored by your gracious invitation. It is a privilege for the Rothschild family to be able to visit the Nordic palace and dine with you and Mrs. Iliad!"

Helena smiled and replied, "Mr. Rothschild, your kindness knows no bounds. Both you and your son are esteemed guests of the Nordic royal family. Here, you are among family, no need for excessive formalities."

She continued, "The dinner is still being prepared. It will commence in two hours. Allow me to show you around the palace first."

Howard quickly responded, "That would be marvelous. Thank you, Your Majesty, for personally guiding us. It is truly an honor!"

With a gentle nod, Helena gracefully led the father and son to begin the tour from the main hall of the palace.

The so-called tour was, in fact, a means for Howard to gauge Helena's goodwill. Charlie intended to extract value from both Howard and Steve, and he would spare no effort in bestowing the favors and benefits they deserved.

By displaying her goodwill towards Howard, Helena continued to be the driving force behind his unwavering loyalty.

Steve followed dutifully behind his father, accompanying the tour like an obedient follower. During this time, his father and Helena engaged in conversation, while Steve remained mostly silent.

His mind was not focused on the tour of the Nordic palace or on Helena herself. He simply wanted to know if Charlie was also present in the palace at that moment, as he had mentioned before that he would come to the Nordic region.

And so, while Helena introduced the royal art collection to Howard, Steve discreetly took out his phone and sent a message to Charlie. The message read: "Mr. Wade, are you in Norway?"

Charlie swiftly replied: "I am having dinner in the banquet hall of the Royal Family."

Steve was taken aback and thought to himself, "Why is Charlie also in the banquet hall? Could it be that Helena invited both my father and me, as well as Charlie? That would be awkward if we were to meet."

Feeling anxious, he quickly responded to Charlie's message: "Mr. Wade, will you be joining us for dinner later?"

Charlie replied, "No, I will leave after I finish eating. There is still more than an hour until your dinner starts, so you won't see me."

Steve heaved a sigh of relief. It seemed that Charlie had no intention of meeting his father. With that in mind, he no longer had to worry.

He hastily inquired, "Mr. Wade, may I come to the banquet hall to meet you? I have a matter of great importance to discuss in person."

Charlie replied, "If you wish to come, then come."

Steve wanted to see Charlie, not only to get close to him but also to inform him about his upcoming stay in China.

Seeing that Charlie also agreed to meet, he quickly said, "Okay, Mr. Wade, wait a moment, I'll be right over!"

Then, he thought for a moment, walked over to Helena and Howard, and said, "I'm sorry, Your Majesty, where is the bathroom?"

Helena guessed that he must be going to see Charlie, so she smiled and said, "You can use the bathroom at the banquet hall. Just walk through the corridor on the east side of the first floor until the end."

"Okay, thank you, Your Majesty!" Steve respectfully saluted, then whispered to his father, "Father, I'll go ahead. You and Her Majesty can continue talking."

"Go ahead." Howard nodded. In his opinion, Steve was just an extra today. It didn't matter if he was there or not, so he didn't mind.

When Steve arrived at the banquet hall, Charlie, Maria, Desmond, and Jack were sitting at the large dining table, having a meal.

Steve hurried over, and when he saw Charlie, he quickly put on an excited expression, walked up to him, and said respectfully, "Hello, Mr. Wade! We meet again!"

Charlie nodded and introduced his second uncle, Marcus, who was sitting opposite him. "Steve, let me introduce my second uncle, Marcus. You must have met him before, right?"

Steve knew of Marcus but had never been close with him. Now seeing him again, he enthusiastically stepped forward to shake hands and said, "Hello, Mr. Evans! We have known each other for a long time!"

Marcus smiled and said, "I didn't expect to see Mr. Rothschild here. It's an honor."

Steve quickly said, "Just call me Steve. Don't call me Mr. Rothschild. It's too formal. You are Mr. Wade's uncle and will be my good friend in the future. No need to be so polite between friends!"

Marcus nodded and smiled, "Okay, Steve, just call me Marcus from now on."

Steve smiled and said, "Okay Marcus."

At this point, Charlie introduced Jack and said, "Steve, this is Inspector Jack Lee. You don't need an introduction, right?"

"No, no, no," Steve said with a smile. "I live in New York. How could I not have heard of Inspector Lee? I've admired him for a long time!"

He then took the initiative to shake hands with Inspector Lee.

Charlie then pointed to Maria beside him and introduced, "This is one of my little sisters, named Cathy Clark."

Seeing Maria's youthful appearance, Steve didn't think much about it. He subconsciously wanted to step forward and kiss her hand. Charlie interrupted him with a smile and said, "If you're over 18, just a handshake will do."

Steve didn't feel embarrassed and immediately withdrew his hand, smiling. "I didn't expect Miss Clark to be so young. If you ever visit the United States, please let Mr. Wade contact me. I'll arrange the best reception for you!"

Maria nodded politely, smiled, and said, "Thank you, Mr. Rothschild."

Charlie looked at Steve and asked curiously, "Steve, why didn't you stay with your father? Why come here to see me?"

Steve couldn't hide his excitement and said, "Mr. Wade, I wanted to tell you that my father and I have decided to set up a Rothschild family office in mainland China to handle our family's investments there. I will be fully responsible for this office, personally overseeing all its operations. The family will initially invest $50 billion to increase our presence in China, and I plan to set up this office in Aurous Hill!"

Charlie wasn't surprised by this news. Steve was a smart man. After visiting Aurous Hill last time, he must have realized that Charlie was his key to future success. Developing in Aurous Hill would be a good choice for him, making it easier for Charlie to keep him in check.

So, Charlie smiled and said to Steve, "Steve, then I would like to welcome you in advance on behalf of Aurous Hill and its citizens."

Steve said excitedly, "Mr. Wade and the people of Aurous Hill can rest assured that I will do my utmost to contribute to Aurous Hill's development!"

Charlie was amused and asked, "Who taught you that?"

Steve smiled and said, "I've been watching a lot of Chinese films and TV shows recently, especially those about World War II. To be honest, I've been deeply moved by the courage of the Chinese heroes in those stories!"
