The Amazing Son in Law/

Chapter - 5893

According to convention, individuals from collateral families employed in the Governor's Office are generally not permitted to return home.

After all, the Warriors Den is not an ancient governmental institution. Even if the outsiders hold significant positions, they are essentially equivalent to slaves of the Mirren family. Naturally, as slaves, the notion of taking a free vacation does not apply.

Moreover, once outsiders step into the Governor's Office, they are deemed to be privy to its core secrets and are not allowed to leave freely.

Victor Steel wishes to grant Tara a vacation, which is considered a special case and a loophole. He also faces certain risks on her behalf. If she runs into trouble returning home or if her absence adversely affects the Warriors Den, Victor Steel will be held accountable.

Although Tara is very skilled, she is still a young woman in her early twenties. Having been away from home for two years, she undoubtedly feels a longing for home. For her, the opportunity to visit home for a vacation is something she never dared to hope for in the past.

In earlier times, Tara would have undoubtedly leaped for joy upon hearing such news.

However, now, upon receiving the announcement, she felt no excitement, but rather an overwhelming sadness.

Now that she was at Charlie's mercy, the prospect of seeing her family again was entirely uncertain.

Feeling despondent, Tara didn't bother to respond to Victor Steel's words.

Victor Steel, hearing no response from the other end of the line, assumed that Tara must be speechless with excitement and surprise, so he smiled and said, "Tara, there's no need to be overly excited. If the British Lord admires you and decides to take you under her wing for training in a year, your family will surely thrive. By that time, perhaps you can visit home more frequently."

Victor Steel continued, "Tara, if you become a valued person close to the Lord in the future, do not forget the guidance and support you received from the Right Army Governor's Office!"

As Victor Steel painted a bright picture for Tara's future, he was completely unaware of her current predicament.

Tara felt even worse upon hearing his words.

Noticing her silence, Charlie immediately gestured toward his phone and gave her a look.

Tara understood that Charlie expected her to respond, so she restrained herself and quickly said, "Thank you, Governor! Rest assured, I will do my utmost to meet the expectations of both the Lord and the Governor!"

Victor Steel smiled, pleased. "Great! I'm glad to hear that you have this determination!"

Afterward, he asked Tara, "How are preparations going for the significant transition at Duke Mining?"

Tara quickly replied, "The list for the transition has been prepared and I have communicated it clearly to the Cavalry Guards, awaiting your further instructions."

"Excellent," Victor Steel replied. "The first group from your side will board the plane the night after tomorrow. The flight will be ready at Casablanca Airport in the afternoon of the following day. You need not concern yourself with how to send them off, as Moore Trading has arranged transportation. Our official statement will be that Duke Mining is sending exemplary employees abroad for a vacation."

He added, "Additionally, the first batch of Cavalry Guards being exchanged to your side will arrive in Casablanca the night after tomorrow. Moore Trading will handle their transportation, so all you need to do is receive them at Duke Mining."

Tara responded, "I understand. Please don’t worry, Governor!"

"Alright." Victor Steel said cheerfully, "I won't take up any more of your time. I will report back once you finish the blood transfusion. I’ll hang up now."

Tara respectfully replied, "Please hang up first, Governor."

Victor Steel hummed and ended the call, while Tara stared at her phone, biting her lower lip, remaining silent.

Charlie, observing her, muttered to himself, "Your Governor is telling you to go back and report to the British Lord, which likely means he won’t be returning for a while."

Tara acknowledged, "The Governor has important matters to attend to."

"What nonsense important matters," Charlie replied disdainfully. "It’s nothing more than going to Nigeria to serve the Three Elders."

Tara gasped, "You... how do you know that?"

Charlie shrugged casually, "Of course I know, Morgana arranged for the Three Elders to go to Nigeria. Is she hoping to lure me into her trap? Yet she never anticipated that I’m not targeting Nigeria, but Morocco."

Tara couldn’t help but admire Charlie’s strength.

She hadn’t imagined that Charlie was privy to such information, especially since she was not even entitled to know it; it was Governor Victor Steel who had made an exception to inform her earlier.

She realized that Victor Steel consistently made exceptions for her to gain her favor. Initially, she intended to accept Victor Steel's goodwill, hoping he would look out for the Decker family in the future, but now it seemed to be in vain.

Contemplating Charlie’s strength and intelligence, along with his ability to orchestrate the secret evacuation of tens of thousands, she figured he must have robust resources behind him that could rival the Warriors Den. A sudden thought struck her, leading her to kneel in front of Charlie, pleading, "Mr. Wade, you possess great capabilities and can alleviate the strange poison affecting the Cavalry Guards. I beg you to rescue my family from peril! As long as you can save them, I am willing to dedicate myself to you for life!"

Charlie inquired curiously, "Are you asking me to extract your entire family from France?"

"Yes!" Tara nodded earnestly, her hope palpable. "The Warriors Den has always kept the Decker family under the influence of a strange poison, so they have no oversight. If you could arrange for someone to help them escape France and assist in their detoxification, they could break free from the clutches of the Mirren family forever!"

Charlie replied, "If I only take you away, Morgana will assume you were killed or kidnapped by me. But if I extract your family, she will come to realize that you have betrayed her. Have you considered the members of your Decker family who are already married into the Mirren family? Even if I can quietly take your family in France away, I lack the means to rescue those who are with the Mirren family. Aren't you concerned that Morgana and the Mirren family would retaliate against them?"

"This..." Tara faltered.

Most of the adult female members of the Decker family have married into the Mirren family. Should the Decker family defect, it would undoubtedly endanger those connected by marriage.

Given Morgana's vengeful nature, she would likely wipe out the Decker family to set an example.

Realizing this, Tara’s previously hopeful expression faded, turning pale.

Many women from the Decker family were married. As Charlie noted, if the Decker family betrayed them, those women would be in grave danger.

In despair, Tara murmured, "Mr. Wade is right. I hadn’t considered that. For their sake, it is better if I simply disappear."

Seeing her despondent demeanor, Charlie spoke calmly, "Miss Decker, do not fret excessively. When we execute the evacuation, I will leave your sword here. By then, this place will lie in ruins. The Warriors Den will surely believe that you have perished due to my actions. They will view you as a martyr for the Warriors Den, and they will undoubtedly treat your family favorably. After I deal with Morgana and the three Elders, putting everything to rest, I will surely assist you in reuniting with your family and granting freedom to your kin."

With that, Charlie shifted gears, reminding her: "However, if you waver and falter in your resolve, all my promises will naturally go unfulfilled. I hope you can recognize the reality of your situation and adjust your mindset accordingly."

Tara understood that Charlie's words were a reprimand, likely stemming from her indecision and struggles, so she said earnestly, "Mr. Wade, rest assured, I will do nothing but obey your commands!"
