Chapter - 5915

Although Leo Grant believed the world had gone mad, he instinctively helped Victor Steel to his feet.

Once Victor Steel was upright, he immediately reached into his pocket with his left hand, trying to retrieve the phone that he had placed in his right pocket with his right hand.

However, Victor Steel had always kept his phone tucked into the inner pocket of his jacket, making it easy to put away with his right hand but challenging for his left hand to maneuver and retrieve it from the same side.

He attempted several times without success. Leo Grant, who was watching, stood dumbfounded as he observed Victor Steel's left hand awkwardly twisting and bending in various angles. He was astonished—it hadn’t been long since he had witnessed Victor Steel lose his left hand, yet here it was, moving so flexibly before him.

Initially, Leo felt an odd sense of disconnect, but as he continued to watch Victor's repeated failures, his anxiety grew. He was torn between the discomfort of watching Victor struggle and the worry that offering help might offend him since it seemed so simple.

While Leo hesitated, Victor Steel was becoming increasingly frustrated. He looked up at Leo Grant and shouted, "Why aren't you helping me? Get my phone out!"

Leo Grant quickly replied, "Governor, please calm down. I’ll get it for you."

He stepped forward swiftly and retrieved the phone.

In his anger, Victor Steel snatched the phone from Leo’s hand, but his left hand wasn’t accustomed to it, and he accidentally dropped the phone, which clattered to the ground.

He quickly bent down to pick it up, relieved to find it was unharmed. He promptly unlocked it and called Aemon.

As he was dialing, he told Leo Grant, "You should leave now."

Not wanting to linger, Leo Grant exited without hesitation.

Aemon answered the phone promptly, asking, "Victor, is there any new development on your end?"

Victor Steel replied, voice filled with distress, "Grandpa, I feel so wronged!"

Tears streamed down his face uncontrollably, his voice thick with emotion.

Hearing his cries, Aemon assumed Victor was still grappling with the loss of his left hand and sought to comfort him, saying, "Victor, think of what your brother faced, and then look at you. You are fortunate. Your brother lost his post in Cyprus, and a marshal died in his stead. You've lost a position, and a quasi-marshal has vanished from your office. When it comes to responsibility, you both share the blame. Yet your brother is dead, and you've only lost your left hand. There's no reason for such distress."

Victor Steel sobbed and countered, "No, Grandpa! The Lord has punished me, and I dare not defy him. But you don’t know, just now that wretched mysterious man visited my home and played tricks on me. That man is truly demonic!"

Aemon's eyes widened, "What did you say? That mysterious man came to you? He came to you but didn’t kill you?"

Victor Steel choked on his words, "That scoundrel didn’t even bother to kill me. He just toyed with me like I was a fool..."

Victor Steel continued, "Grandpa, you told me about the Reshaping Pill a few days ago. Today, that rascal came to my house and gave me one without any warning..."

Aemon laughed incredulously, "Victor, do you really believe that? The Reshaping Pill is incredibly precious. Even the Lord struggled to gather all the materials needed for its creation. One crucial herb has eluded her for centuries. That man simply handed you a pill and claimed it was the Reshaping Pill. Did you actually buy that?"

Victor Steel replied hastily, "No, Grandpa! I didn’t believe him at first—I thought he was spouting nonsense. But he didn’t care about my skepticism and made me eat it. The most astonishing part is that after I ingested it, my left hand truly regrew. I watched it blossom from a tiny sprout to a complete hand, and the whole transformation took less than five minutes..."

Aemon inhaled sharply, asking seriously, "Victor, are you being serious? That man came to your house—not to harm you, but to give you a priceless Reshaping Pill? This sounds increasingly absurd. We know his reputation for ruthlessness; he doesn’t just play games—he is brutal. He uses firearms to take lives and helicopters to behead his victims. He is more terrifying than the devil. Knowing you were the Governor of the Right Army Commander's Office, he didn’t execute you but instead gifted you a Reshaping Pill? Doesn’t that seem too bizarre?"

Victor Steel replied tearfully, "Grandpa, you don’t know, even after that scoundrel gifted me a Reshaping Pill and my left hand regenerated, he then severed my right hand! He utilized the reiki to destroy my right hand right in front of me!"

"What did you just say?!" Aemon exclaimed, an icy wave of fear washing over him. "That man gave you an elixir, let your left hand regrow, and then cut off your right hand? So now you have only one hand left, and it has swapped from the right to the left?"

"Yes, Grandpa..." Victor Steel cried. "Isn’t he a monster? Wasting a pill worth hundreds of billions of dollars just to torment and humiliate me..."

Aemon broke into a cold sweat, muttering, "This isn’t just about humiliating you; it’s a slap in the Lord’s face! He utilized the elixir the Lord wanted to heal your left hand and then destroyed your right hand. This is undeniably a message directed at the Lord! He wasted a priceless pill purely to humiliate the Lord. The audacity of this individual is beyond comprehension. Isn’t it akin to spending $100 billion just to insult someone?"

Victor Steel whimpered, "Grandpa, I don’t know how to report to the Lord. If, as you say, this person did it to insult the Lord, will the Lord take his anger out on me again?"

Aemon sighed, "Ah... I can’t predict the Lord’s reaction, but it won’t remain hidden from him. If you were merely a mid-level official at the Right Army Governor’s Office, it might not come to his attention. However, as the Grand Governor of the Right Army Commander's Office, the Lord will personally visit your station next year, and you will have to receive him in person, making it impossible to conceal."

Aemon then inquired, "By the way, did you see the man’s face?"

"No..." Victor Steel replied, "He wore a mask, showing only his eyes, so I couldn’t see his face. But from the sound of his voice, he didn’t seem very old—probably around 30."

"Only 30?" Aemon questioned skeptically. "How could a 30-year-old wield such powerful abilities and possess a legendary item like the Reshaping Pill?"

Victor Steel replied, "He looks young, but I’m not certain about his actual age."

Aemon then asked, "Did he share any valuable information with you?"

Victor Steel pondered briefly and said, "Oh, he knows the name of the Lord, and he instructed me to pass on a message to the Lord."

Aemon immediately pressed, "What did he want you to convey?"

Victor Steel, feeling anxious, responded, "Grandpa, it’s far too outrageous; I dare not tell you..."

Aemon scolded him, "You fool! If you withhold such crucial information, how will the Lord uncover the clues?! You must tell me now!"

Reluctantly, Victor Steel complied and said, "He... he told me to inform the Lord that he would kill her sooner or later, and... and..."

Aemon pressed urgently, "What else? Hurry and tell me!"

Victor Steel lowered his voice and added, "He said he would erect a life size bronze statue for the Lord, of her kneeling before Lucius Clark's grave to atone for her sins..."

"Lucius Clark?!" Aemon's mind raced. "How could he possibly know Lucius Clark?! In this world, apart from the Lord and the Mirren family, who else is aware of Lucius Clark's existence?!"

Victor Steel reminded him, "Grandpa, don’t forget about Maria—the Lord has been searching for her... This scoundrel could very well be connected to her!"

Aemon replied incredulously, "Maria may have been a significant figure, but she was powerless—yet she remains alive thanks to the elixir Lucius Clark provided her. After all these years on the run, how could she attract someone with such masterful skills?!"
