The Amazing Son in Law/

Chapter - 6013

Chapter - 6013

The group consisted of old acquaintances of Tawanna, but none of them had ever witnessed her cold demeanor before.

At that moment, Tawanna entirely ignored the anxious and restless gazes of the group, focusing solely on her meal with a blank expression.

The others were extremely concerned, so they turned their attention to Steve.

They had traveled from afar to China for Steve’s sake, either willingly or through Steve’s insistence.

I had assumed that Steve was supporting Tawanna, but it appeared that was not the case.

Several of them lowered their heads to whisper to one another, and then one individual nervously looked at Steve and asked, "Mr. Rothschild, could you please clarify why you brought us to China?"

Steve responded coldly, "Didn’t you hear what Miss Sweet just said? Eat first; someone will be here to discuss matters with you later."

This only heightened their panic.

Who would be able to eat when there was no clear explanation?

After all, they had previously conspired to dispose of Tawanna, particularly Matt Finkelstein, who had even offered a billion dollars in secret. Now that Tawanna was sitting at the same table with them, it was natural for them to worry about her seeking revenge.

The dozen individuals picked up their chopsticks, hesitated for a long time, and then set them down again, repeating this cycle multiple times.

Just as their anxiety grew, the door to the room was suddenly pushed open. Don Albert stepped inside and respectfully announced, "Master Wade, please come in."

Charlie entered under the gaze of everyone.

The dozen guests who had flown in from the United States kept looking at Charlie, wondering who this young man was and why he was the last to arrive at Steve Rothschild's dinner.

Charlie hadn’t planned to be the last, but he had to drop off his wife at home first.

As soon as Charlie stepped into the room, Steve immediately stood up and said respectfully, "Mr. Wade, you’re here! Please, sit next to me!"

Tawanna, who had just started eating with her head down, also put down her chopsticks and stood up, saying respectfully, "Mr. Wade!"

Matt Finkelstein quickly stood as well, acting like a sycophant. He didn’t dare to greet Charlie, merely bowing his head.

While the others didn’t know who Charlie was, they surmised from the deference shown to him that he was certainly not an ordinary person. Perhaps he was secretly supporting Tawanna.

So everyone stood up quickly, remaining silent and attentive.

Charlie sat down at the empty seat between Steve and Tawanna, looked around the room, and said, "Thank you all for coming to China, both to celebrate Tawanna’s success and to support my friend Don Albert."

Everyone was taken aback. Who was Don Albert? They had never heard of him.

Charlie stretched in his seat, leaned back casually, and continued, "I recognize some familiar faces here. You must be well-known figures in the United States. I’m curious—why can’t you live a decent life? Why resort to such immoral and degrading behavior?"

Charlie’s directness left everyone speechless. What they had done on the island was indeed disgraceful, which was why they had eliminated anyone connected to it in order to cover their tracks.

Previously, a character like Matt Finkelstein had bought an island for a party, and he was killed in prison by them not long ago.

According to their plan, this time they intended to force Matt Finkelstein to kill Tawanna first, and then find an opportunity to eliminate him as well.

If they severed this lead, they would be free from worry.

However, no one anticipated that the situation would unfold like this today.

Seeing their silence, Charlie interjected, "You all have nothing to say, right? Then let me take the lead."

He raised his voice slightly: "First of all, you wanted to assassinate Tawanna. Consequently, you must be held accountable for the murder scheme. I can negotiate on behalf of Tawanna—she won’t reveal your identities, but you must cease all actions that threaten her. Additionally, you must apologize to Tawanna for your past behavior and compensate her for the emotional damage."

One of them perked up and quickly responded, "No problem! As long as Miss Sweet keeps our secret, we’ll never offend her again. Regarding the emotional compensation, we are willing to comply!"

They understood very well that even though they didn't know Charlie's origins, the respect shown towards him by Steve Rothschild indicated that he was a formidable individual. If they crossed him, Steve would likely be the first to dissent.

In this situation, they had no choice but to agree with Charlie's terms.

With one person expressing support, the others quickly followed suit.

At that moment, everyone was eager to pay to avoid disaster; even Matt Finkelstein, the brokering pimp, felt the same. He had been willing to offer a billion dollars to have Tawanna eliminated to secure these people’s silence, and now they were willing to pay.

So, Charlie stated, "Alright, I won’t ask for more. Each of you will pay 100 million dollars in emotional compensation. And Matt Finkelstein, as the instigator who hired a killer, will have to pay a bit more. Initially, you were planning to spend 1 billion dollars to resolve this issue. Now that it’s taken care of, you’ll still pay that 1 billion, meaning you won’t lose any money, and I won’t pursue what you’ve done."

The others raised no objections to the 100 million-dollar price tag. For them, that amount could eliminate Tawanna's threat and spare them from Charlie and Steve's wrath. It was a worthwhile investment, so they readily consented, fearing Charlie would change his mind.

However, Matt Finkelstein felt somewhat disgruntled. While the others only had to pay 100 million dollars, he was being asked for 1 billion, which was quite painful.

But despite his discomfort, he had become Steve’s subordinate, so he dared not defy Charlie. He immediately replied, "Don’t worry, Mr. Wade, I can arrange the billion dollars anytime..."

Tawanna was taken aback. She hadn’t anticipated that Charlie would demand more than 2 billion dollars from these people right off the bat. Moreover, she felt she couldn't accept such money.

So she leaned in and whispered to Charlie, "Mr. Wade… I can’t accept this money..."

Charlie nodded, "Originally, this money wasn’t intended for you directly."

Tawanna felt a little embarrassed, realizing her own overstep.

Charlie then addressed the group, "30% of the money you promised will go directly to Tawanna. The remaining 70% needs to be used to create a fund."

"A fund?!" Everyone was astonished, and one of them asked, "Are you suggesting we use the remaining funds to set up a charity?"

"No," Charlie waved his hand dismissively, "Having you handle charity would be an insult to genuine charitable causes."

He then sighed and continued, "I’ve kept a low profile these past two years, but had I not, I could have dealt with individuals like you by leaving you utterly dismantled, trapping you in iron cages and tossing you into the river for the fish to devour, leaving nothing but your bones."

Charlie spoke lightly, but his words terrified those elite individuals whose hands were stained with innocent blood.

They did not doubt the sincerity of Charlie's threat at all, and they believed he might have done something similar in the past.

Matt Finkelstein nervously asked, "Mr. Wade, what is the purpose of the fund you’re proposing?"

Charlie smirked and replied, "I want you to register a fund in a jurisdiction without laws. All the funds collected will be used to purchase Bitcoins. Those Bitcoins will reward individuals through underground channels for exposing criminals like you—those who kill innocent women while evading justice."

At this point, a deadly intent filled Charlie’s gaze as he said coldly, "For instance, if there are still people in the United States engaging in similar acts, anyone who exposes them with solid evidence could receive 5 million dollars. Moreover, anyone who can eliminate these lawless individuals will receive a reward of 5 million dollars per person. If there are too many targets and the fund runs dry, each of you can inject another 100 million dollars into it."

Matt Finkelstein was appalled and blurted out, "Mr. Wade… this… this is outright contract killing! If the FBI or other authorities discover this, we could be in serious trouble…"

Steve, standing nearby, frowned and slapped him hard across the face, cursing, "You moron! When you hired a killer to take out Tawanna, did you not consider the potential consequences? Now you’re suddenly worried about trouble?"

Matt Finkelstein had not expected such a direct attack from Steve. His face throbbed with pain, and his heart raced with fear.

He realized he had no escape at this moment.

Without Steve’s protection, he could very well be dead by tomorrow, and the others present would likely jump at the chance to eliminate him.

What was he now afraid of offending others for? So long as he didn’t cross Steve and Charlie, nothing else mattered. Even if he found himself on the most-wanted list, with Steve’s protection, he at least wouldn’t face immediate death...
