Chapter - 6043

Charlie never imagined that the two women wanted to dance with him.

"What kind of dance can you expect from an eight-foot-tall man?" he thought.

However, before he could outright refuse, Stefanie took hold of his arm and pleaded, "Charlie, can you please promise us? You really don’t have to dance; it's just traditional martial arts and wire work, and it's all choreographed. Not to mention that you won’t show your face; you’ll have specialized assassin armor, so no one will even see a hint of you."

Tawanna, aware that she shouldn’t be acting spoiled in front of Charlie, chimed in with hope: "Mr. Wade, I’ll be performing with Miss Sun. If you could join us on stage, it would create a memorable experience we will cherish for a lifetime."

"Yes, Charlie!" Stefanie said earnestly, "You can’t say no after what you just told me in the car. You really won't refuse to help out in a performance like this, right?"

Charlie felt slightly embarrassed as he noticed the pleading look on her face.

Recalling that Stefanie had mentioned the performance would only involve some martial arts poses, he replied seriously, "You promised, Stefanie, that you wouldn't show your face. If you actually do, that would be embarrassing for me."

Understanding that Charlie had already relented, Stefanie threw her arms around him excitedly and exclaimed, "That’s wonderful, Charlie! Don’t worry, you’ll never have to show your face! But there are some movements that need to be planned out, and I’ll need your cooperation!"

Charlie felt relieved now that it was clear he wouldn't have to reveal his identity.

Performing some martial arts maneuvers shouldn’t be too challenging. However, Tawanna's fame meant that if she appeared at her own concert, it could potentially jeopardize her desire for privacy.

With no other option, he nodded and said, "Alright, I promise. Just let me know about any stage movements in advance, and I’ll do my best to cooperate."

"Great!" Stefanie replied enthusiastically. "I need to go back and discuss the choreography with my dance crew, but don’t worry, it won’t be difficult."

Charlie nodded slightly, "Okay, I’ll follow your plans. You'll be performing during your last song, right?"

"Exactly!" Stefanie said. "This song is one of my favorites. The lyrics tell the tale of an ancient woman in love with a chivalrous assassin. The assassin is on a mission to eliminate a tyrant, but he's reluctant to part ways with the woman."

Charlie smiled and asked, "Isn't that Jing Ke’s story?"

"No!" Stefanie laughed. "It’s a fictional tale. Ultimately, the assassin succeeds in killing the tyrant and returns to the woman, making for a perfect ending."

Charlie nodded, "I’ll follow your lead. I’m on board with whatever you plan."

"Got it!" Stefanie was elated and quickly turned to Tawanna: "When do we start the first rehearsal?"

Tawanna smiled and responded, "This afternoon! The performance is the night after tomorrow, so we’ll begin the rehearsal today, and then we will do a full run tomorrow before the performance."

Charlie remarked, "That sounds like quite a bit of running around today."

Tawanna inquired curiously, "Do you and Miss Sun have any other plans for lunch?

Stefanie replied with a smile, "Charlie needs to have lunch with my parents at my house, but we’re free in the afternoon. We must go to Charlie’s house for a family dinner tonight, so the afternoon might be a bit tight."

"That’s fine," Tawanna smiled reassuringly. "You two focus on your lunch plans. Join us this afternoon, and we’ll prioritize your time before you head out for dinner."

Stefanie nodded appreciatively, "Okay! We’ll come over after lunch!"

Tawanna looked at Charlie and said with a smile, "Mr. Wade, make sure to listen to the song ‘Assassin’ when you have time. I listened to it through the translation, and I found the lyrics quite moving."

Charlie usually wasn’t one to seek out music and rarely listened to songs on his own.

In fact, he had only attended two concerts in his life, both of which had been by Tawanna and Stefanie.

However, since "Assassin" was one of Stefanie’s songs, he resolved to make time to listen to it carefully.

He couldn't even recall if he had heard that song during Stefanie's previous concert.

Looking back, it had been quite an experience watching her perform.

The first time was in Aurous Hill, where he was a bundle of nerves, fearing Stefanie would confess her feelings for him on stage.

The second time was in New York, when he had wanted to immerse himself in the concert, only to find himself confronted by an assassin targeting his family.

On the journey back, Charlie connected his phone to the car's Bluetooth and listened to the song "Assassin."

He had to admit that this ancient Chinese song had a beautiful artistic vibe, its overall tone somewhat reminiscent of Jay Cole’s song "Fireworks are Easy to Cool."

What was particularly impressive was that the song’s creator didn’t resort to crafting a tragic narrative to evoke sympathy from the audience.

Instead, the lyrics revealed a happy ending.

"Fireworks are Easy to Cool" tells the story of a woman who dies waiting for her lover's return. In contrast, "Assassin" consists of three sections: the love affair between a woman and an assassin, the tale of the assassin’s righteous bloodshed, and a happy conclusion of his return to her.

Charlie appreciated songs with a satisfying ending, having always preferred stories that concluded well, whether in music or film.

Noticing how many times he had listened to the song on their way back, Stefanie asked, "Charlie, what do you think of this song?"

Charlie wholeheartedly complimented it: "It's fantastic! I love the perfect ending. It’s refreshing to hear a song that doesn’t glorify heartbreak, unrequited love, or betrayal."

Stefanie smiled and said, "I didn’t feel much for this song before, but ever since I met you, I appreciate it more and more. To me, you’re like the assassin in this song. Even though you've been away from me for so many years, you've been seeking vengeance for your parents and striving to bring justice. I hope that you can defeat all the villains and return to me."

Charlie was taken aback; he hadn’t expected this song to hold such personal significance for Stefanie.

Upon reflection, he realized they indeed shared a similar narrative.

He couldn’t help but respond, "Stefanie, since this song is so meaningful to you, I’ll definitely cooperate to ensure we perform it beautifully."

Stefanie nodded eagerly and declared, "Charlie, there are four concerts in Eastcliff, and you’ll need to join me for all four!"

Charlie smiled and assured her, "Don't worry, as I promised, I won’t let you down!"
