Chapter - 6059

At this moment, chaos was erupting behind the scenes.

During such a major unveiling ceremony, if Tawanna's safety rope remained stuck and left her suspended in the air, it would be a tremendous embarrassment for everyone involved.

There wouldn’t even be a need to wait for the performance to begin; once the audience found out how Tawanna was trapped, this incident would dominate headlines around the world.

Yet, amidst this turmoil, rescuing Tawanna proved to be a challenge.

The mechanism that managed Tawanna's safety rope was an electric hoist mounted above the stage.

The hoist's collection and release functions relied on a wired controller. Staff members positioned directly behind the stage were frantically pressing the release button on the controller.

Under normal circumstances, they would gradually lower the safety rope by visually assessing its tension and matching it to the pace of Tawanna's anticipated descent, much like controlling the height of a rope during rock climbing.

However, something was amiss; the wire-controlled hoist had become jammed.

It could be a malfunction with the wired controller, an issue with the hoist itself, or perhaps an electrical failure.

Nevertheless, the design of this type of hoist incorporates a safety mechanism that engages the brakes if power is interrupted, which means that despite the length of the safety rope, it could not be released even slightly in this situation.

The staff were on the verge of breaking the switch on the wired controller, but the problem remained unresolved.

Tawanna was nearing her breaking point.

From the audience, Charlie watched intently. This concert was the highlight he had eagerly anticipated.

The thought of suffering an accident right from the start and dangling awkwardly above the stage, dozens of feet in the air, would surely be devastating.

Suddenly, a staff member shouted, "Stop the big screen! Rewind it for now, and we'll do it again once we resolve the issue! Inform the audience that we’re delaying the start by ten minutes!"

Everyone deemed this as potentially the best course of action.

Although Tawanna felt disappointment, she recognized that retracting the big screen was far preferable to being left suspended alone in the air.

This seemed to be the most viable solution under the circumstances.

However, Charlie felt that the scattered drop of the big screen created an awkward situation, and rewinding it would give off a comical feel, rendering all the surprises meaningless.

Instead of retracting it and having Tawanna attempt the stage again, it seemed better to quietly rescue her and let her make a grand entrance from the stage's lift.

While this wouldn’t generate the same drama as her falling from the big screen, at least it wouldn’t lead to humiliation.

After all, the big screen was only beginning its descent, and from the audience's perspective, Tawanna was still out of sight.

Upon further consideration, Charlie realized that wasn’t the best plan. The audience had already seen the big screen starting to descend; they would undoubtedly expect Tawanna's appearance and be eagerly waiting for her to confirm their predictions.

Without hesitation, he called out to the staff nearby: "Don’t rewind the big screen—continue lowering it!"

The stage director protested: "But Tawanna can’t hold on any longer! If we keep it coming down, the safety rope will leave her dangling!"

Charlie dismissed the concerns and asserted, "Follow my instructions; the safety rope is already compromised and will snap soon!"

Then, with a swift thought, he channeled his energy and severed the safety rope behind Tawanna.

Simultaneously, he released more energy from his body, enveloping Tawanna in an invisible support.

The staff thought he was exaggerating—the safety rope was designed to handle up to 800 kilograms, typically used for climbing and mountaineering. How could it possibly break?

Just as the stage director was about to argue, he watched in shock as the taut safety rope behind Tawanna suddenly snapped and recoiled.

Seeing this unfold, the stage director’s legs buckled in terror as he gasped, "It’s over! I’m finished! God, please protect Tawanna; don’t let anything happen to her..."

Initially bracing against the powerful force pulling her backward, Tawanna suddenly felt it vanish. She lunged toward the iron frame in front of her, fear overwhelming her.

Fortunately, the concert hadn’t begun yet, and the sound technician hadn’t turned up the volume on her microphone; otherwise, her scream would have echoed throughout the venue.

Tawanna glanced back at the snapped rope, trembling in fear. With the rope severed, she lost her safety and could only cling to the iron frame before her.

But in this moment, wouldn’t she just make a fool of herself? The effect intended for the audience was to emerge majestically from the falling big screen, not to appear abruptly behind it.

Just then, she heard Charlie’s voice resonating in her ears: "Stay calm, stand tall with confidence and courage; I will protect you."

"Mr. Wade?!" Tawanna exclaimed, startled.

She initially thought Charlie was speaking directly to her, but she soon realized that the sound in her ears was too clear and precise to be from a device.

Charlie's voice came through as if he were speaking directly to her, without distortion.

Being an exceptional musician, she was acutely aware of sound quality, and she recognized this was beyond any normal headphones’ capability.

In horror, she looked down to see Charlie standing beneath the stage, gesturing at her.

A wave of warmth surged in her heart, offering a sense of reassurance.

However, despite feeling somewhat at ease, she still harbored a vestige of anxiety; after all, the safety rope was gone. If she happened to fall, she wouldn't survive the plunge to the stage.

The stage director anxiously radioed, "Tawanna, how are you holding up? Should we halt the big screen’s descent and find a way to bring you down?"

Charlie quickly sent a reassuring thought into her mind: "Don't be afraid. I severed the rope. This way, you'll be unhindered on stage. Tell the director to keep the big screen descending; you can endure this. I’ll turn this misfortune around for you."

Tawanna had faith in Charlie, especially recalling how he had surprised her with his extraordinary abilities back in Tokyo. She believed it wouldn’t be difficult for him to discreetly cut the safety rope.

More importantly, he was a man of great responsibility. Since he took such drastic action, it must have been with purpose and assurance!

She replied promptly, "There's no need to worry about me; just ensure the big screen continues to descend without interruption!"

The stage director interjected, "But if something goes wrong, and you fall…"

Tawanna replied firmly, "Don't worry; with the support of my beloved, I’m certain I can turn this bad luck into good fortune!"
