Chapter - 6067

Charlie took Stefanie back to the Sun family before returning alone to the Wade family’s old house. The concert from earlier that night had completely taken over social media, both at home and abroad.

On Tiktok, eight of the top ten trending topics were about the concert.

In fact, four of these were directly related to Charlie.

“Tawanna kisses a mysterious male dancer”

“Who is the mysterious male dancer?”

“The entire internet is searching for the mysterious male dancer!”

“Who knew Chinese swordsmanship could look so cool!”

Charlie couldn’t help but feel a sense of regret. If he had known how influential Tawanna's concert would be, he would never have consented to her and Stefanie’s request. He should have done whatever it took to not accompany them on the dance.

After scrolling through the trending topics, he realized he had become the very person everyone was curious about, the object of fascination for both fans and gossip enthusiasts.

This was certainly not a good thing for someone like Charlie, who preferred to stay out of the limelight.

Meanwhile, in Aurous Hill, Claire was also seeing a flood of news pop up on her phone. She had always been a big fan of Tawanna and had even formed a personal connection with her some time back. Moreover, her husband, Charlie, was currently serving as the Feng Shui director for Tawanna’s team, which made her particularly attentive to the concert happening in Eastcliff.

As she viewed the trending stories, she watched the related videos and was struck by the masked figure of Charlie on her screen. The silhouette felt oddly familiar to her.

After all, she and Charlie had been married for many years. Though they had never fully crossed certain boundaries, they were well-acquainted with each other.

On stage, Charlie was almost entirely concealed, he wore armor, long boots, gloves and a mask that left little visible. His long hair, likely a wig, was part of a flowing ancient style, obscuring his natural look. Typically, he would be hard to recognize.

Yet Claire felt an unshakeable sense of familiarity about his figure, his build, the rhythm of his movements.

In a moment of confusion, she thought, “Why does this dancer remind me so much of Charlie?”

But almost immediately, she dismissed the thought. She reasoned, “Charlie went to Eastcliff to work as Tawanna’s Feng Shui director. He wouldn’t perform on stage, would he? Besides, I never knew he could dance with swords. That dancer seemed highly skilled and professional.”

Still, an unease settled in her heart.

As she pondered further, a troubling question came to mind, “Tawanna has never invited any guest performers in her past concerts. Why did she do so this time? It feels so off. And Stefanie appears to have had her first concert leg in Aurous Hill. Isn’t she from Eastcliff...?”

Claire found herself lost in thought. She sensed something was off but couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was.

For the first time since marrying Charlie, uneasy feelings washed over her. Subconsciously, she reached for her phone and initiated a video call to Charlie.

At that moment, Charlie had just finished washing up at the Wade family’s old house and was not yet ready for bed. Instead, he sat at his father’s desk, sifting through some of his father’s belongings and books. He was startled when he received a video call on WeChat.

Most of the people around him held him in high regard, and few would dare to send video calls lightly. He and Claire usually respected each other’s privacy and rarely shared video calls.

When Charlie opened the app, he realized the video was from his wife, Claire. Nervousness washed over him as he hesitated about whether to answer the call. But being alone made him reconsider, if he avoided Claire's call now, she might have more to worry about.

After a moment of contemplation, he decided to accept the call.

Soon, Claire’s beautiful face appeared on the screen, looking as radiant as a glowing moon.

Surprised to see him, Claire asked, “Honey, where are you? You don’t look like you’re in a hotel!”

Charlie offered a smile as he replied, “I’m staying in a courtyard house, arranged by Mr. Cameron.”

“Mr. Cameron?” Claire inquired. “Which Mr. Cameron?”

Charlie chuckled and said, “Isaac Cameron, the general manager, from Shangri-La in Aurous Hill. He was promoted and is now serving at the Eastcliff headquarters. Since he knew I was in Eastcliff, he wanted to be a gracious host.”

Claire nodded slowly. She had seen reports stating that Tawanna and her staff were also residing at the Shangri-La in Eastcliff. It made sense.

Moreover, the fact that Charlie wasn’t staying in the same hotel with Tawanna could further reassure her that nothing was amiss.

As these thoughts crossed her mind, Claire couldn’t help but chastise herself. “Claire, what are you thinking? Why would you suspect that the male dancer Tawanna kissed on stage is your husband? And even wonder if Tawanna has feelings for him? This is absurd... Charlie didn’t even stay with them at the hotel...”

Calming herself, Claire smiled and said, “It sounds like Mr. Cameron treates you well and arranged a nice place for you.”

Charlie nodded with a smile. “You know I don’t like to get caught up in the excitement. Miss Tawanna team had initially booked me a room at Shangri-La, but I figured a major star like her would likely attract media attention day and night, so I chose to stay somewhere quieter. I thought about paying for a hotel near the National Stadium, but Tawanna's popularity led to all those hotels being fully booked. So Mr. Cameron helped me find this place.”

As he spoke, he switched the camera to show her his surroundings. “Look, it’s really nice here. The decor is quite vintage and there’s even a study room for reading and relaxation. Although it’s centrally located in Eastcliff, it’s still peaceful and comfortable.”

The visuals from Charlie’s video eased some of her doubts. She smiled and added, “Then you mustn’t forget to take some time to thank Mr. Cameron. He was very kind to us during our time in Aurous Hill, going as far as to make special arrangements for our wedding. We owe him.”

“Absolutely.” Charlie said with a grin. “Don’t worry! Mr. Cameron is a great guy, he just wanted my help with some Feng Shui assessments last night and I assured him I wouldn’t charge him a dime.”

“That’s good to hear!” Claire sighed in relief and added, “So, honey, make sure you get some rest. I won’t keep you any longer. You’ve got a busy day ahead.”

Charlie returned the focus back to himself and said with a smile, “Wife, you should make sure to rest early as well.”

“Don’t worry about me.” Claire replied with a chuckle. “I was just about to sleep, but suddenly.....”

She paused for a moment. She nearly voiced that she noticed the dancer looked like Charlie in the video.

Quickly correcting herself, she continued, “I just miss you very much and wanted to see your face.”

Realizing that something was off, Charlie sensed that Claire wouldn’t have called him out of the blue unless it was significant.

The next moment, it struck him that perhaps Claire had recently seen news and videos and her mind was racing to connect the dancing figure with him, prompting her to reach out.

With a heavy sigh, he felt the weight of the deception. He was exhausted from weaving lies and couldn’t shake off the guilt.

It dawned on him that once the cycle of deceit begins, it grows harder to maintain the original lie without further entanglements.

He suddenly felt anxious about a day when Claire might truly discover something was amiss and how that realization could affect their relationship.
