Chapter - 6075

Charlie observed Tara’s anxious expression and smiled. "Miss Decker seems much more reserved than the last time we met. This is China; you don’t need to be so nervous or overly polite. No one here will harm you."

Tara listened to the soothing tone of Charlie's voice, noticed his reassuring smile, and nodded anxiously.

However, she realized that Charlie had misunderstood her demeanor.

Her restraint was not due to nervousness about being in a foreign place, but rather the significant changes in their identities and her mindset towards him since their last meeting.

Being a straightforward man, Charlie did not grasp the source of Tara's anxiety. He sensed the sensitivity of the location and figured they shouldn’t linger. He suggested, "Miss Decker, please get in the car first. We can talk while we're on the way."

"Okay, Mr. Wade," Tara replied quickly.

At that moment, Charlie had already opened the passenger door for her.

Tara felt her heart race as she climbed into the car, her cheeks flushed. She nervously clasped her hands together.

Once Charlie got into the car, he drove straight from the airport. On their way to downtown Shanghai, he asked Tara, "Ms. Decker, is this your first visit to China?"

"Yes!" Tara replied, pointing out the sights. "I've wanted to come to China for quite a while, but I’ve never had the opportunity."

Charlie nodded. "Shanghai is the city with the fastest economic growth, ranked top in GDP. It’s also one of the most fashionable and internationally connected cities in China. During our drive back, you’ll get to see the beautiful night view. If everything goes smoothly tomorrow, I can take you on a tour and let you experience the allure of China's largest metropolis."

Tara asked tentatively, "Mr. Wade, if I were to be seen on the streets of China, would that cause you any trouble?"

"No," Charlie replied calmly. "Sometimes, as long as we anticipate our opponent's predictions, we can evade their threats. Morgana might suspect that you are hiding in this world, but she would never think to look for you on the streets of China."

Tara nodded slightly and asked him carefully, "Mr. Wade, is Ms. Salazar also in Shanghai right now?"

Charlie waved his hand dismissively. "No, she's not. Zeba has been in Aurous Hill. I don’t know if you’re familiar with that city, but it’s not far from Shanghai—only about a three-hour drive."

She inquired further, "Does Mr. Wade live in Shanghai?"

Charlie smiled as he replied, "I don’t actually live here; I stay in Aurous Hill."

Tara expressed with a hint of emotion, "That’s quite a journey. Mr. Wade, you came all the way to Shanghai to me up; I feel honored..."

"That's not the case," Charlie said with a straightforward smile. "I happened to be here for work, and they arranged for you to arrive as well, which is why I’m picking you up."

He then looked over at her and continued, "I will be working in Shanghai for a few more days, so you will be staying with me during this time. Once I finish my work, we’ll go to Aurous Hill together. I can set up a meeting for you with Zeba, and if you like, you can stay with her."

Tara’s beautiful face lit up with surprise. "Mr. Wade, why would someone as powerful as you still need to work? Is there anyone in this world who can afford you?"

Charlie smiled and said, "I have two roles in life. One is the person you see here and, of course, I don’t have to work for anyone. However, in Aurous Hill, I have family and friends who don’t know my true identity, so to them, I am just a hardworking man earning a living."

Tara asked in astonishment, "Mr. Wade, are you already married?"

"Yes," Charlie nodded, "I am married."

Tara was taken aback. Reflecting on his previous remark, she couldn’t help but inquire, "Mr. Wade, does your wife know about your current identity?"

Charlie shook his head. "She doesn’t know."

"Oh my!" Tara exclaimed, "Mr. Wade, you’re hiding so much, just like the men in my family."

Charlie, not well-versed in the roles that the Decker family members played in the Warriors Den over the years, asked, "What do you mean by the men of your family?"

Tara explained, "To ensure a safe and reliable marriage to the Mirren family, the men of the Decker family often live double lives, hiding their true identities as they marry women from the secular world. After having children, they take them back to the Decker family, effectively disappearing from the lives of those women. As a result, the women who marry into the Decker family never truly know who they are marrying."

Charlie felt a twinge of shame upon hearing this.

What Tara said struck a chord with him. To some extent, like the men of the Decker family, he was also hiding his identity from Claire.

But unlike them, he couldn’t imagine leaving her, especially if they had children in the future.

Noticing Charlie’s silence, Tara realized that her analogy might have been inappropriate, so she quickly added, "I’m sorry, Mr. Wade. I'm not very articulate. Please don’t take it to heart."

Charlie chuckled softly to himself, "You’re just speaking the truth; there’s no need to apologize."

Seeing Charlie's mixed expression, Tara guessed he must have his own struggles and decided not to press further.

The car soon reached the bustling downtown area of Shanghai. All the while, Tara marveled at the city’s night view as she followed Charlie to the Shangri-La Hotel.

Meanwhile, Tawanna and her team were also staying there.

Charlie parked the car and escorted Tara to the hotel’s top floor using the elevator.

This time, he had requested Isaac Cameron to arrange a luxurious 300-square-meter suite for himself. The suite consisted of two separate areas with a large living room. Charlie occupied one of the rooms, while the other was set aside for Tara.

It wasn’t that he wanted to share a roof with Tara; he felt a degree of caution and preferred to keep her within his sight.

In the elevator, Charlie informed Tara, "The suite I’ve reserved has two separate areas, each with its own bedroom, living room, and bathroom, ensuring we won’t disturb one another. The only shared space is the common living room. I hope you don’t mind, Miss Decker."

Tara quickly reassured him, "Don't worry, Mr. Wade; I don’t mind at all. I will follow your arrangements wholeheartedly."

In truth, Tara understood that Charlie couldn’t be completely at ease with her presence. She intended to behave well and put him at ease.

Seeing her nonchalance, Charlie nodded and continued, "I will be working in Shanghai at night for the next few days, so when I’m working, you will accompany me and present yourself to the team as my assistant."

Tara asked curiously, "May I know what specific work you’ll be doing, Mr. Wade?"

Charlie replied, "I’ll be serving as the Feng Shui Director for an American singer who’s here to hold a concert."

Tara was taken aback, feeling confused by the combination of "American singers" and "Feng Shui director." "Do Americans believe in Feng Shui?” she asked.

"Some do, but I’m not sure if my employer believes in it or not. She didn’t hire me solely for Feng Shui consultations," Charlie clarified.

Tara sensed there were deeper stories behind this situation and inquired curiously, "Mr. Wade, your employer isn’t a female singer, is she?"

Having been isolated at sea for days, Tara was out of touch with current events and unaware of Tawanna’s concert in China.

Charlie didn’t hide anything and casually said, "The employer this time is Tawanna Sweet. I don’t know if you are familiar with her."

Tara’s eyes widened, transforming her into an enthusiastic fan. "Tawanna Sweet?! Oh my God! Mr. Wade, are you serious?"

Charlie asked with curiosity, "What? Do people like you have an interest in singers?"

Tara replied sheepishly, "Even a cultivator can enjoy music occasionally. During my teenage years, I liked Tawanna Sweet... I attempted to go to her concerts several times, but my family was very strict, so I never got the chance..."

Her expression shifted to one of excitement and anticipation as she asked shyly, "Mr. Wade, is there any chance I could meet Tawanna Sweet?"

Noticing her genuine enthusiasm, Charlie sighed inwardly.

Even though Tara had just shown a fierce side, at her core, she was still a girl in her early twenties, with her own innocent dreams.

He said casually, "You’ll have the opportunity to meet her tomorrow, and if you're interested, you can watch her concert up close from the sides of the stage."

"Really?!" Tara exclaimed, excitement radiating from her. "That’s amazing!"
