The Amazing Son in Law/

Chapter - 6109

Chapter 6109

When Charlie, Claire, Elaine, and Jacob arrived at the French restaurant on the island for breakfast, several butlers were there to greet each guest as they entered. They informed everyone, "Dear guests, there is a complimentary party tonight at the hotel's sea view restaurant. You and your family are warmly invited. Mr. Bernard Arnault, our group president, has invited the renowned singer Tawanna Sweet to attend the event." Elaine, standing next to Charlie, exclaimed, "Oh, is Tawanna really coming?" The butler, Hani, nodded and replied, "Yes, Ms. Elaine, Miss Sweet has already arrived on the island this morning. If you're her fan, you must attend the party tonight. You'll have the opportunity to take a photo with her and ask for her autograph." Elaine let out a condescending laugh and patted Charlie on the side, saying, "Tawanna held numerous concerts in China not long ago. My son-in-law was the Feng Shui advisor she specifically invited. Make sure to tell her that Master Wade is on the island this year, so she should stop by if she has time." Hani was taken aback and asked incredulously, "Ms. Elaine... are you serious?!" "Absolutely!" Elaine replied proudly. "Not everyone can have my son-in-law's invitation. The last time I assisted her as the Feng Shui advisor, it was her sincere attitude that earned my respect." At that moment, Claire spoke up awkwardly, "Mom, please don't spread rumors like that. It's not nice." Elaine frowned, responding, "What do you mean? I'm not making things up! What I've said is the truth." Claire replied with an unusual serious tone, "Mom, even if it is the truth, there's no need to broadcast it everywhere, right? Can’t you be a little more low-key? We’re just here on vacation and will be leaving in a few days." Noticing Claire's displeasure, Elaine was surprised that her daughter expressed her discontent so directly. She felt confused about what she had done wrong. Wasn’t it natural to brag a little? She had been doing so for years, she thought. However, while Elaine usually had a strong demeanor, she sensed Claire's genuine unhappiness and decided not to push the issue further. She turned to the butler Hani and instructed, "What I just told you should remain confidential. Please don’t let anyone else know." Hani smiled and nodded, "Don't worry, Ms. Elaine, I won't say a word." Elaine then linked her arm with Claire's and said excitedly, "Claire, we should go to the party tonight. I have yet to see such a big star!" Claire felt a bit uneasy, recalling the image of Tawanna kissing the masked warrior on stage, and replied, "Mom, if you’re interested, go ahead. I’d like to relax and have a quiet evening." Elaine sensed the awkwardness and turned to Jacob, saying firmly, "Then you should come with me tonight, so there won’t be any issues!" Jacob chuckled, "What else would I do? I certainly want to join in on the fun." He then turned to Charlie, asking, "Good son-in-law, would you like to come along tonight?" Charlie waved his hand dismissively, "I'll be in the room with Claire, so I’ll skip the festivities." Claire looked at Charlie and inquired, "Miss Sweet is your client. Now that you're both on the same island, wouldn’t it be beneficial for you to meet?" Charlie replied nonchalantly, "What’s the issue there? It was just a temporary partnership. Once it concludes, there’s no reason to maintain a connection." Claire nodded slightly, feeling a sense of relief seeing that Charlie seemed to have no particular feelings for Tawanna. Meanwhile, Tawanna was unaware that Charlie, whom she had been thinking about, was on the island. Having spent a long time on the plane, she had lost her appetite for breakfast, so she settled on the villa's terrace to soak up the sun and take in the view. This time, she had rented four water villas: two for her bodyguards, one for her parents, and the last for herself.

Her parents had asked why she didn’t bring Trevor along this time. To them, her relationship with Trevor had always seemed solid, and he was her longest-standing boyfriend. They believed they were a good match, so their being apart this time caused them some worry. Tawanna explained that Trevor had been lacking training recently and was busy making up for it. While Tawanna really wanted to break up with Trevor in her heart, she struggled to reach that conclusion. It wasn’t that she couldn’t bear to part with him; rather, they had been together for so long that they knew each other’s flaws all too well. Trevor was also aware of her feelings for Charlie. As long as they didn't mention a breakup, they could maintain some understanding. But if the topic arose, it would lead to greater conflict. Moreover, their relationship had been accepted by many fans worldwide. After numerous experiences in love, they saw Tawanna as finally having found the right person. A sudden breakup would certainly raise questions among her fans. If Trevor chose to retaliate, it could lead to a complicated situation for her. However, humans are complex beings. When love fades from one’s heart, even a tenuously maintained relationship becomes increasingly intolerable. It’s akin to the greasy residue left on your hands after eating fried chicken: you might relish it while eating, but afterward, you’re left with an overwhelming sense of nausea and distaste. Just when she was lost in thought, the doorbell suddenly rang. She approached the door and, through the peephole, saw the famed luxury goods mogul Bernard Arnault and his wife standing there. Tawanna opened the door with a smile, "Mr. Arnault, it’s been a while!" Bernard Arnault grinned, "Tawanna, I never expected you to travel all the way to the Maldives for a vacation. If I had known earlier, I could’ve arranged for someone to clear the entire island for you." Bernard Arnault's wife internally scoffed, thinking, "Do you really believe that? He wouldn’t even bother to clear the island for someone like Tawanna. She isn’t foolish." While Tawanna wasn’t foolish, she wasn’t particularly sharp either. She missed the undertone in Bernard Arnault’s words and replied respectfully, "Mr. Arnault, you’re too kind. Your island has a long-standing reputation. I've wanted to come and experience it for myself. I didn’t want to impose over something so trivial; I can't believe you’re here as well. What a coincidence!" Bernard Arnault chuckled, "As the saying goes, ‘Meeting is fate.’ We are destined to cross paths! We must raise a few glasses together at tonight's party. What do the Chinese say? A thousand cups of wine fall short." Tawanna asked in surprise, "Mr. Arnault, you seem quite interested in Chinese culture!" Bernard Arnault's wife thought, "He only developed this interest after a business trip to China. Since then, he claims to have learned to cultivate his mind and spirit there. He’s now very enthusiastic about Chinese history." Tawanna exclaimed, "Oh, what a coincidence! I’ve been particularly fascinated by Chinese culture lately. For this trip, I brought a silk-embroidered cheongsam that I really cherish." Bernard Arnault smiled widely, saying, "Haha, you have great taste! Miss Sweet, why not wear that cheongsam to the party tonight? I hear one-third of the guests on the island are from China." Tawanna thought, since a third of the island’s guests are Chinese, her wearing a cheongsam would surely circulate throughout the Chinese Internet. This would not only endear her to the Chinese audience but also convey her feelings to Charlie once it reached him! Without hesitation, she replied, "Of course! I’ll wear the cheongsam to the party tonight!"
