Chapter - 5262

“If I said it fell off the cliff, that’s that. You can go to the bottom of the cliff and get it back if you want! Do you think I don’t want the beast? Do you know how amazing the meat is?” Lance angrily rebuked Fernand.

He wanted to have a good conversation but lost the desire to speak at the sight of Fernand’s appalling face. He just wanted to curse at him.

Fernand scowled at Lance’s outspoken words and arrogant attitude.

This brat dared to challenge me!

“Such audacity! I think everything’s just a coincidence. You didn’t do anything that great, so stop putting on airs!”

The two of them argued in front of the emperor, neither one backing down.

“That’s enough… Everyone has worked hard, so let’s put this aside. I’ll compensate you for it.” In the end the emperor spoke.

The emperor could not figure out the situation, but he could not condone this racket either. Thus, he glossed things over and ended the argument.

Lance bowed in dissatisfaction and left. He did not have a good impression of Fernand and loathed staying in the same room with him.

“Only a loser will shoot his mouth away without the facts,” Lance muttered as he passed by Fernand.

Fernand was angry, but he knew that he was no match for Lance. In a fight, he would never get the upper hand. To deal with this guy, he had to resort to underhanded means and stab him in the back.

After Lance left, the emperor patted Fernand on the shoulder and asked him to sit down.

“Let’s forget about this. Lance is a young kid and acts on impulse. Pay him no mind,” the emperor advised Fernand. Obviously, the emperor was on Fernand’s side.

Lance was still wet behind the ears, ignorant and impulsive. He easily messed things up. On the other hand, Fernand had a good upbringing and never made a fuss or raised opposing opinions in front of him. Therefore, he preferred this subordinate.

Only obedient dogs should stay by his side. A disobedient brat like Lance should be left to his own devices.

After hearing the emperor’s advice, Fernand pretended to agree. After all, the emperor did not want to lose a capable aide, be it a militant like Lance or an official like Fernand.

“Next, we need to collect the remaining bodies of the beasts and sell them at a good price,” Fernand said, still involved in the role.

The emperor nodded without further comments.

Since Fernand took the lead in changing the topic, there was no point in dwelling on it. As long as Fernand managed it properly, he would get the credit for it.
