The Amazing Son in Law/

Chapter - 6040

Chapter - 6040

When Angie looks at Charlie, she sees him as the quintessential son-in-law. The more she observes him, the more her affection grows.

In the past, when Bruce captivated countless affluent women in the capital, Angie was among his many admirers—though her admiration for Bruce transcended mere fandom; it was rooted in a deeper respect rather than romantic infatuation.

In her youth, she regarded Bruce as the pinnacle of success, and over the last couple of years, she has witnessed Charlie’s remarkable ascent. Naturally, her desire for Charlie to formally become her son-in-law has intensified.

Yet, she is acutely aware of the challenges Charlie has faced during his years of wandering and understands that pushing him is not an option. Thus, she hopes her daughter can give Charlie a child first.

This wish is not merely about furthering the Wade lineage; it stems from her fear that Charlie may ultimately fail to uphold the three-year agreement. If he does break that promise, his inherent kindness might mean he would distance himself from her daughter.

This would imply that her daughter’s life could pass by Charlie without ever truly connecting.

As a woman with experience, Angie has witnessed the heartache experienced by Zayne Banks' ex-wife, Deana, for having missed her chance with Bruce.

Therefore, she is determined to prevent her daughter from repeating Deana's mistakes.

After all, isn't it understood that even if Bruce had granted Deana a chance at love, her life could have been much easier over the following twenty or thirty years?

The agony of unrequited love is the worst kind.

Even a fleeting moment of love could ease one's worries.

Angie believes that if Deana had been able to have Bruce's child back in the day, even without a marriage in the following decades, she would have found herself much happier than her current situation.

Consequently, Angie began to contemplate approaching Charlie directly, pondering whether she should straightforwardly express her thoughts.

Her family would not care if her daughter became a mistress or got pregnant before marriage. For the sake of her daughter's lifelong happiness, she is ready to be humble and put aside her pride. How could he refuse such an earnest offer?

Just as she was about to speak, Charlie unexpectedly turned to Stefanie and said, "By the way, Stefanie, I wonder if you’d be interested in something."

Stefanie, curious, responded, "Charlie, what good news do you have? Please tell me!"

With a smile, Charlie replied, "Don't you know that Tawanna Sweet wants to hold four concerts in Eastcliff? She knows you’re back and wants to invite you as a guest for these four performances. Are you interested?"

Stefanie's eyes widened with excitement as she exclaimed, "Really?! Tawanna invited me to be a guest?! Why would she think of inviting me? We’re not familiar at all!"

Then a realization dawned on her, and she asked Charlie, "Charlie, did you ask her to invite me?"

Charlie shook his head and smiled, "No, she overheard us on the plane. I guess she wanted to reach out to you. If you’d like to go, I can arrange for you to meet her later. If not, I’ll decline on your behalf."

"I’m in!" Stefanie declared eagerly. "I’ve always admired her! She's incredibly talented, writing most of her own songs. Before I debuted, I listened to her music all the time. Performing on the same stage would be a priceless experience before I step away from the entertainment industry."

Charlie nodded, "Great! I’ll set up a meeting so you can chat."

"Okay!" Stefanie agreed without hesitation. "Thank you, Charlie, for making the arrangements!"

Charlie responded, "I’ll give her a call now and see if she can join us for breakfast."

Angie chimed in quickly, "Charlie, please have lunch here at home. I’ll speak to your Uncle Orrin."

Charlie nodded and assured her, "Don’t worry, Aunt Angie. I’ll meet with Tawanna as soon as Stefanie and I finish discussing the main agenda, so it doesn't hold up lunch."

As he spoke, Charlie recalled his grandfather’s message and added, "By the way, Aunt Angie and Uncle Orrin, my grandfather would like to invite your family to our house for dinner tonight. Do you have time?"

Angie's anxiety eased upon hearing Charlie mention a family lunch at her house.

When she realized Nathaniel Wade was inviting them for a banquet, her anxiety subsided even more, and she smiled, saying, "Of course, your Uncle Orrin and I have retired and are taking care of our health at home. We have plenty of time. Stefanie has just come back on vacation, so our schedule is clear."

Stefanie grinned and said, "I originally planned to rest until the last concert, but I might have to get busy these days. Being a guest for Tawanna is quite an honor. Plus, since I’m from Eastcliff, it’s like welcoming her to our home."

Angie nodded approvingly, "I’m glad you’re excited; I support you."

With everything arranged harmoniously, Charlie took out his phone and called Tawanna.

It was still early, and he wondered if she was awake, but Charlie didn’t feel the need to be overly polite.

After a long wait, the call connected, and Tawanna's voice, still sleepy, came through: "Mr. Wade, why are you calling me so early?"

Charlie responded with a smile, "I hope I’m not interrupting anything."

"You’re not, you’re not disturbing me," Tawanna replied, suddenly alert. "Is there something you need?"

Charlie said, "I wanted to see if we could meet at Shangri-La. I’d like to bring Miss Sun over to discuss the performance."

Tawanna asked, surprised, "Ms. Sun agreed?"

Charlie replied with a smile, "Of course! She is excited about performing on the same stage as you. I thought it would be best to settle this soon considering your performance is in just a couple of days."

"Yes, yes!" Tawanna replied eagerly. "We need to finalize details quickly, including performances and interactions. The more we can engage with each other, the better!"

Charlie suggested, "Let's meet as soon as possible. We can cover everything right now."

Tawanna responded with a smile, "That works for me. I’ve booked their presidential suite, which includes a conference room. If you and Ms. Sun haven’t had breakfast yet, I can arrange that for you. I look forward to discussing things further."

"Great," Charlie said decisively. "Let’s head there now."

He hung up and turned to Stefanie, "Stefanie, let’s go now. We’ll chat early and make it back in time for lunch."

Stefanie readily agreed.

While they were getting ready to leave, Angie felt a tug of suspicion at Charlie's eagerness in this matter. She sensed he was avoiding something.

However, with Mr. Wade hosting a family dinner that evening, she decided not to press the issue aggressively, saying, "Since this is important business, go take care of it. Your Uncle Orrin and I will be here waiting for you to return for lunch."

"Okay!" Charlie replied promptly as he and Stefanie left.

Once inside the business car, Charlie let out a sigh of relief.

He had been worried that Angie or Orrin would bring up sensitive subjects in front of Stefanie. If that had happened, it would have been exceedingly awkward.

Now he had successfully sidestepped a potentially tricky situation.

Just as he felt some ease and began driving away from the Sun household, Stefanie, sitting beside him, asked with a smile, "Charlie, are you trying to hide something from my parents?"
