The Amazing Son in Law/

Chapter - 6051

Chapter - 6051

Charlie harbored a negative impression of Cynthia Wade.

In his childhood, he could only recall how, before his parents left Eastcliff, his aunt acted as if she were armed for battle, opposing his parents at every turn.

When they crossed paths again, she had already engaged in a fierce conflict with her mother-in-law.

By that time, the tension between the two was palpable, and Charlie had even considered that if Cynthia Wade remained obstinate, he would confine her to house arrest in the urban village for two years.

Thus, when the old man defended Cynthia Wade, it did not affect him in the slightest.

Sensing Charlie's cold demeanor, the old man realized that he must be displeased with Cynthia Wade.

So, before Cynthia Wade returned, he said earnestly, "Charlie, you may have only witnessed a fraction of the story. Your aunt had a close relationship with your father in her younger days, and your mother was quite kind to her as well. However, later on, the entire Wade family turned against your parents, and I failed to advocate for your parents. Back then, to protect herself, your aunt chose not to oppose your parents."

As he spoke, the old man sighed, "At that time, the Wade family was in turmoil, and everyone was in danger. Much like on Wade Mountain, when disaster struck, everyone just wanted to escape with their lives. No one was concerned about their parents or siblings. This has perhaps always been the tradition of the Wade family, with the exception of your father."

Charlie couldn't help but reflect on his childhood.

During the time leading up to leaving Eastcliff, it was true that his parents were ostracized by the entire Wade family.

The ringleader was his uncle.

By that point, his parents had already distanced themselves from the Rothschild family, and there was no one in the Wade family willing to support his father. When several siblings rallied against their father, the old man never took a stand to defend him.

This was indeed reminiscent of the events on Wade Mountain.

The Wade family had never been a united front. A truly unified family puts the well-being of its members before profit. The greater the threat from outside, the more they band together to face it, fighting to the bitter end.

The Wade family resembled the final court of a feudal dynasty, focused solely on protecting their own interests. As long as they could secure their slice of the pie, they were indifferent even if their country fell to invaders.

Cynthia aligned herself with his uncle against his parents, influenced partly by the inherent traits of the Wade family and partly by her own self-interest. Charlie refrained from passing judgment but couldn't shake off an underlying discomfort.

The old man was no different.

Although he never forcibly expelled Charlie's family from their home, he did instigate others to turn against his parents and made no efforts to prevent their departure, which had always left a significant resentment in Charlie's heart.

With a sigh, Charlie remarked, "I'm not inclined to judge the past and its righteousness or wrongfulness. If I were to evaluate it, it would seem we lived in an era filled with all manner of wicked people, with no genuine goodness."

Lord Wade felt a bit awkward.

He could clearly understand Charlie's sentiment.

Bruce Wade's decision to leave the Wade family was initially intended to avoid entangling them in the conflicts with the Warriors Den.

He didn't reveal the truth to the Wade family but instead initiated a battle with the Rothschild family, using that opportunity to separate himself.

This demonstrated that he had already grasped the nature of the Wade family; he knew that once he engaged in warfare with the Rothschilds, the Wade family would undoubtedly distance themselves from him for their own benefit.

The Wade family did not disappoint him in that regard.

Charlie found it rather ironic to ponder this situation deeply.

On the surface, his father chose to confront the Rothschild family to shield the Wade family, knowing full well that instigating a formidable foe would lead the Wade family to sever ties with him.

It felt akin to being aware that your partner is unfaithful and, in order to protect them from the fallout of your presence, you create situations that enable them to cheat and leave you.

It was evident that even in the final moments of his life, his father still cared for this family.

He sacrificed everything for a family that had little regard for him and for siblings determined to push him away.

Orrin understood everything back then and sensed Charlie's thoughts. With a gentle sigh, he addressed Charlie seriously: "Charlie, some individuals aren't meant to live solely for themselves. Your father's life mission was to care for his family. Whether it was looking after the Wade family or nurturing the small family of you and your mother, he fulfilled his role admirably."

Charlie nodded slightly in agreement.

He recognized the truth in Orrin's words.

During his years in the orphanage, he had encountered many unfortunate children.

Some were plagued by severe illnesses from birth.

Despite the orphanage's earnest efforts to provide treatment, some of these children sadly passed away at a young age.

Mrs. Lewis once told the children through tears that some people come into this world for either pleasure or suffering.

There was a child who fell ill at birth and was abandoned by their biological parents. Their short life was spent battling a relentless disease, and by the end, they didn’t even know their original surname.

Though his father didn't endure such harshness, he was determined to elevate the Wade family to greatness from a tender age. Throughout his youth, he worked diligently and traveled extensively, laying the groundwork for the family's future success.

Then, he separated from the Wade family, paved the way for his son, and passed away alongside his mother.

All of this revealed that until his last breath, his father never prioritized his own well-being; everything was for the sake of family.

Charlie couldn't help but wonder how he would approach the Wade family had his father still been alive.

Would his father harbor the same jealousy as him, or would he persist in protecting this family selflessly as he had before?

Charlie figured that his father would likely choose the latter.

Yet, he found himself unable to commit to that.

Whether it was Nathaniel Wade, Cynthia, Myles, or others on Wade Mountain, he couldn't remove them from the family, but he also couldn't care for them or shield them in the same way.

Perhaps this was the fundamental difference between him and his father.

However, thinking of the self-serving nature of the Wade family left Charlie feeling somewhat repulsed.

This family seemed only to unite out of self-interest while his father was in a position of strength.

This situation should be viewed as a precedent.

Recalling that Heritage Festival was soon after the New Year, he spoke to Nathaniel Wade: "Grandpa, this year, I will inform all members of the Wade family to gather at Wade Mountain to honor our ancestors. It’s time to strengthen the ideological education within the Wade family. If the Wade family can unite in the future, I’ll be willing to inject more resources into it. Otherwise, we will dissolve the Wade family right there on Wade Mountain, severing all cooperation and financial ties with the branch families, and other Wade family members such as my uncles and aunt will be expelled as well. I will establish a trust to ensure they and their children receive monthly support, but no one will have any say in the management of the Wade family."
